01 / About the piece

Silver Wings

Las Ofrendas
RICARDO QUERO

This piece unfolds as a nocturnal offering inspired by Zapotec culture. Across its surface, fine symbolic patterns move like whispered prayers, surrounding the central mandala known as The Circle of Life. Within this circle, the four elements come together—earth, water, fire, and wind—each one guiding the piece through transformation, balance, movement, and spiritual connection.

The black tones represent mystery, depth, protection, and the sacred silence of the unknown. Silver brings the presence of the moon: intuition, reflection, purity, and the soft light that appears when everything else grows dark. Together, black and silver create a language of night and spirit, a contrast between shadow and illumination, between what is hidden and what is destined to be revealed.

The flaming heart becomes a symbol of eternal love—an inner fire that does not fade, even when surrounded by darkness. It burns quietly, not as a storm, but as a promise. Around it, the butterfly appears as a sign of transformation, reminding us that every soul carries the possibility of becoming something lighter, freer, and more luminous.

Silver Wings tells the story of a spirit that has learned from the earth, crossed through shadow, and found its way back to the light. It is a piece about love that transforms, memory that protects, and the invisible wings that carry us toward what is sacred.

The Butterfly

Transformation · Hope · New beginnings

A delicate promise of becoming. The butterfly invites us to imagine love as a gentle force that gives us wings: carrying what we have lived into a new beginning, without losing the tenderness of where we came from.

The Jaguar

Strength · Power · Connection with nature

Representing strength and leadership, the jaguar was venerated as a deity that protected the community and warriors, instilling them with courage. Its figure was associated with the spiritual world and shamanic practices, as it was believed that the jaguar had the ability to traverse between the earthly world and the underworld, guiding spirits and providing mystical wisdom.

Eternal Love · Silver Wings
04 / 06

Eternal Love

Love · Transcendence · Connection

We come from the world of the dead and return to it. This symbol represents a pure, sincere love that goes beyond life, that transcends life and therefore transcends death. It is a love for every moment, for beginnings and endings, between two souls, between ourselves.

Cempasuchil Flower · Silver Wings
05 / 06

Cempasuchil Flower

Connection with our ancestors · Guidance · Family unity

The Cempasuchil flower emerges as a radiant symbol of the connection between the world of the living and the dead, between the point of rest and the point of gathering. Its golden petals, like miniature suns, trace paths of light that guide souls on their ancestral journey, evoking the warmth of memories and the eternity of love. It blooms with deep meaning: it is the fragrance of memory, the bridge between hearts separated by time, an eternal homage to life and death intertwined in a perpetual cycle of rebirth and hope.

The Spirit of Mezcal · Silver Wings

Cultural symbolism

In the Zapotec tradition described by Ricardo Quero, a naturally found cow skull carries profound meaning. Placed in a home, it is believed to act as a guardian, symbolizing protection and harmony for the household and its inhabitants. Found after the animal’s natural death, these skulls are revered as sacred objects associated with balance and tranquility in the home.

01 / Acerca de la pieza

Alas de Plata

Las Ofrendas
RICARDO QUERO

Amor eterno · Silver Wings
04 / 06

Amor eterno
