An enduring

HEART OF THE JAGUAR
From the Traditional collection
The black of the skull evokes the mysteries of the night, the depth of the cosmos, and the unyielding strength of the earth. It represents the jaguar’s stealth and wisdom, a creature revered by the Zapotecs as a guardian of the spiritual realm. Black is the shadow that holds secrets, the depth that nurtures creation, and the eternal night through which the jaguar prowls, unseen but ever-present.
Golden accents, glowing like the first light of dawn, symbolize fire and divinity, the eternal spark of life that ignites the heart. Gold speaks of the sun’s warmth, the fire of transformation, and the celestial energy that connects the heavens and the earth. It reflects the jaguar’s regal spirit, a reminder of its sacred role as the protector of balance and harmony.

Tradition / Meaning / Presence
Cultural symbolism
In the Zapotec tradition described by Cabokero, a naturally found cow skull carries profound meaning. Placed in a home, it is believed to act as a guardian, symbolizing protection and harmony for the household and its inhabitants. Found after the animal’s natural death, these skulls are revered as sacred objects associated with balance and tranquility in the home.
